Our Mission
Our mission is to give the Southwest the very best place for healing hearts. A commitment is made to our patients to maintain mastery and innovation in heart care, to be compassionate and respectful, to honor individual beliefs, and to make sound decisions in their best interests. We will strive in every way to improve the cardiovascular health of the communities we serve.
The Heart Hospital of New Mexico is dedicated to one goal: the very best in heart care for New Mexico and the region. The heart hospital resulted from the shared vision of the New Mexico Heart Institute (NMHI) and Southwest Cardiology Associates (SWCA), the same talented cardiovascular physician groups that pioneered New Mexico's leading heart programs. This uniquely designed hospital provides comprehensive, cost-effective, physician-directed and patient-centered care. In 2002, NMHI and SWCA merged under the New Mexico Heart Institute name, and today, the Heart Hospital is owned by partners MedCath and NMHI.
A First for New Mexico
In October 1999, the Heart Hospital of New Mexico opened its doors to patients and became the state's first hospital dedicated to the prevention and treatment of heart disease. Located at 504 Elm St., the two story Heart Hospital will offer a comprehensive range of heart care services.
A First for Patients
In many traditional hospitals, the needs of the patients seem secondary to the routines dictated by the hospital's schedule and staff. At the Heart Hospital of New Mexico, we do not believe hospitals have to be that way. In contrast, the Heart Hospital of New Mexico follows a patient-centered model of care that places the patients' needs first. This dedication to patients is expressed at the Heart Hospital through innovative hospital design and programs that help patients and their families stay informed and comfortable during their time at the hospital.
The Heart Hospital of New Mexico provides for patients first. We recognize the needs of those suffering from heart diseases because medical treatment of the heart is what we do. The comfort of our patients, their families and friends along with advanced diagnosis, treatment and therapy are priorities of the Heart Hospital of New Mexico. Our patients have access to advanced technology and surgical techniques in a hospital specially designed for their treatment and recovery. From admission until discharge, patient care focuses on personal needs, comfort and convenience. All rooms are private and are designed and equipped for every stage of patient care. We minimize the transporting of patients, encourage family involvement in the recovery process, and provide a comfortable setting for all involved.
A First for Physicians
The Heart Hospital of New Mexico is a result of intensive efforts by area heart specialists to assemble the finest facilities, most advanced equipment and highly skilled healthcare professionals at one site. From its inception, physicians have been active in the planning and design of our specialized care facility. That's a first.
We've created a dynamic new partnership among local cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, and a hospital dedicated to providing the highest quality cardiovascular care.
Full Service Emergency Treatment:
The Emergency Department at the Heart Hospital of New Mexico features seven beds and is a full service facility, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
